Together with HSL, we explored ways to foster empathy between bus drivers and passengers in this social innovation project. Field research included observations, a workshop, four interviews and an immersion (pic 2). We created a communication tool HeiBus (pic 1) for drivers to communicate with passengers. The concept enables drivers to be better acknowledged by passengers. It uses existing platforms in buses and bus stops to add ‘something extra’ to the screens passengers keep glancing (pic 3).
